Bradford Schools Coronavirus Statement

March 12, 2020

Dear Bradford Families,

In everything we do, the safety of our students and staff is our top concern.  In light of that, we want to share an important message about the coronavirus (COVID-19) illness.  With the virus now spreading into Ohio, the District is monitoring the situation very closely and is taking direction from the Miami County Health District, Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Ohio Department of Education, our local and state governments and others regarding mitigation procedures.  Our school district has no evidence at this time to suspect any student or staff member of carrying COVID-19 or having traveled to an area of the world currently experiencing a high concentration of people with the virus.

The current recommendations urge Ohio K-12 schools to continue our educational process as normal.  We are asking our students and staff to wash their hands regularly for at least 20 seconds at a time (sing happy birthday twice, etc.), keep from touching their face, eyes, nose or mouth, using hand sanitizer whenever hand washing is not available and staying home when sick.  Our custodial crew has done an incredible job regularly cleaning and disinfecting our restrooms, drinking fountains and common areas every day. Since the beginning of flu season they have included an additional weekly disinfectant on every classroom and common area surface to keep the spreading of bacterial and viral contaminants.

We hope to continue the educational process as normal, but are preparing a structure to communicate lessons and activities if we are asked to close.  We will maintain our flexibility and continue to follow the direction of our governor along with local and state agencies to monitor and limit the spread of this virus within our means.  Below are a few resources, but please feel free to reach out with additional questions.

There are many resources available for educating ourselves including:

The Ohio Department of Health has opened a call center to answer questions from the public regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19). The call center will be open 7 days a week from 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and can be reached at 1-833-4-ASK-ODH (1-833-427-5634).
